How to Properly Maintain Your Freshly Cleaned Windows

If you have recently had your windows professionally cleaned, you may be hoping they stay that way for a while. Unfortunately, with dust and debris outside and in the air, you may find your windows eventually not looking as fresh and clear as they once did. The key to extending that beautiful appearance is good maintenance. There are some things you can do yourself to keep your windows clean and looking like they are properly maintained. This is important if you want to constantly experience the benefits of clean windows, like more natural light in the house and a welcoming and bright appearance.

So how do maintain windows? The first thing to do, if you do not already have one, is to get a good squeegee. You should preferably choose one that has a high-quality, sharp rubber blade. If you buy a decent one, it should last for a while so you will be able to perform maintenance between washings. Other things you will need include a bucket for water, lint-free towels a scrubber and dishwashing liquid. When it comes to the squeegee blade, it is important to change it regularly so that you always finish with a quality job. The reason for this is that the edges of the blade can become rounded or sliced over time, and this can cause streaks.

As for the soap and buckets, you do not need anything fancy if you are simply performing maintenance. Choose a large bucket that will hold just enough water, add some warm water and the dishwashing liquid and you are ready to clean. If it is warm outside, it is better to use cool water so that you can extend the working time.

Are you ready to make your windows look fresh? First, dip the scrubber in the water then begin scrubbing the glass. Make sure to cover all angles to take care of any dirt present. Then, use the squeegee starting in the top corner. Use horizontal motions and wipe away the soapy water. Continue down the window until you have taken care of it all. Remember to wipe the squeegee blade between swipes with your towel to remove the dirt you are picking up. This is the trick to super clean windows. All that’s left now is to use your clean towel or rag to dry any remaining wet areas. There you have it, a clean window!
